Ephesians 3:20 – Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.
Veteran means ‘a person who has had long service or experience in a particular field’. In 2010, I was one of the 90 young people that came to the first ever SYC. In 2011, It was during SYC that I found out my A-Level results, so I know what it is like to be approaching SYC thinking about anything other than SYC and worrying about what the future holds! Since then, I have been on SYC Staff and now I have the privilege to be speaking at one of the SYC Seminars.
I have been where you are now. I’ve felt pre-SYC excitement, and the post-SYC blues. And over the last 8 years of SYC, I have seen so many incredible things. From The Foundry victoriously clinging on to the Netball Champion title; to young people meeting Jesus, being released from anxiety, being healed from sickness, giving generously to the poor and seeing lives being transformed in an epic way.
I’ve seen God turn up, big time! And I know this year won’t be any different.
I’ve seen him do ‘immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine’.
As I’m sat here flicking through my bible there are so many pages where I have scribbled SYC2011 or SYC15 next to a verse that has impacted me while at SYC. I’m praying that your Bible will become full of ‘SYC2017’ scribbles. I’m praying that you will look back on this week in 1, 2 or 10 years time and think… that’s where it all began. That is where something clicked. That is where my life changed forever.
As you prepare for SYC, maybe you’re wondering what the big deal is, it’s just a week in Preston! Maybe you are distracted by upcoming exam results or University offers, maybe you are hoping that girl you fancied from last year will be there. However you feel, I dare you to do one thing… Ask God to blow your mind!

Put it to the test. Dream Big. Ask God to top them! Dedicate this week to God, not your mates or your youth leader or your bae. Give it to God and watch Him do more than you could ever ask or imagine.
